This Thursday is National Leave The Office Early Day, a holiday that should be way more revered. It’s a day for all of us hardworking adults to leave a bit early and enjoy the rest of the day relaxing or doing something fun.
And even if you can’t get out of work early, you can – and should – still make some time to enjoy yourself!
Make Thursday night a time for you to celebrate and have fun instead of stressing or doing the household chores you normally do. You deserve something special!

Treat Yourself to a Mini Shopping Spree
When was the last time you really bought yourself something nice? Head over to the mall and buy something fancy. Or, if online shopping is your game, surf the Internet until you find something perfect.
Or Treat Yourself Another Way — at the Spa
This is the perfect opportunity to let yourself relax and ignore the stress that the workday usually brings. Invite a couple of your best friends if you’re feeling a girls’ day, or maybe just give yourself some alone time — especially if that’s something you don’t get too often.
Cuddle up at Home With a Good Movie or a Book
With things being so hectic in our professional lives, sometimes there’s nothing better than just having a nice day at home. Pop some popcorn and put on that movie you’ve wanted to see forever but didn’t have time for, or open up that old favorite book you haven’t read in years. It could be just what you need.
Visit the Local SPCA and Play With the Puppies
The animals in the shelter want nothing more than some love and attention from people. And what could be better for you than some puppy therapy? Go and give them some time to run around and enjoy being surrounded by adorable animals. Even better: If one really catches your eye, consider giving it a forever home!
Take a Class
If you have some sort of community center around, it’s bound to offer all sorts of classes. Or, take a look at anything local, like little shops and groups, to see if they have classes.
The wine and design thing is popular now, so that’s a great option if you’re feeling artsy.
If you want to get rid of some stress with a workout, try the gym or YMCA.
If there’s a music shop around, try learning a bit on a musical instrument.
The possibilities are endless!
Make Dinner — And Invite Someone Special
This is a perfect opportunity for a good date night. You have a lot of time to prepare an awesome meal and make sure everything is perfect for when that special someone comes over. Leaving early also gives you enough time to calm your nerves before they walk in the door. Take that leap!
Go to the Grocery Store and Enjoy Having No Lines
Everyone tends to get their shopping done either on the weekends or right after work, because that’s the only time they have to spare. After you leave work early, stop at the store on your way home and enjoy the quickest grocery shopping trip you’ve probably ever had.
Marathon That Show on Netflix
Netflix has an insane number of TV shows, which means you’ll definitely be able to find something you’ll love. We’re in the golden age of television right now, so take some time to enjoy some awesome shows like “Mad Men” and “The Walking Dead,” or the equally awesome Netflix originals, “House of Cards” and “Orange Is the New Black.”
Go out on the Town and Have Fun
Leave The Office Early Day falls on thirsty Thursday this year! Go out for happy hour with a bunch of close friends, or even your coworkers if they’re allowed to leave early, too.
You can always turn this outing into dinner, too, if your crowd isn’t big on alcohol. But treat yourselves and order dessert first for once to change things up a bit!
Look for local parks or hiking spots near your area and get outside to enjoy them. The world is a beautiful place, and sometimes there’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing the wondrous beauty of Mother Nature. As a bonus, you get to be outside — and possibly get a workout, too!
Catch up With Family And Friends
See what’s going on with your family and friends that you haven’t been able to catch up with in a while — especially if they’re far away. All it takes is a simple Skype or phone call to be able to make their day.
Go to Bed Early
This is a perfect opportunity to actually get the amount of sleep you need (for once). Make yourself some soothing tea to help you sleep and take a long, hot shower or bath to really get relaxed. Your body will thank you in the morning.
